Sheryl Lynn Shields

Sheryl Lynn Shields, 63, of Galesburg, died unexpectedly at 2:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2016 at home.

Sheryl was born August 17, 1952 in Macomb, the daughter of Samuel Lee and Elizabeth Ann Marlow Shields.  Sheryl married her partner, Catherine L. Clark on May 6, 2009 in Davenport, Iowa.  Sheryl is survived by her wife, Catherine of Galesburg; her father, Sam (Phyllis) Shields of Colchester; one son, Shawn (Angela) Westendorf of Bode, IA; and three grandchildren, Alex, Becca, and Lily Westendorf.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth.

Sheryl worked at Farmland Foods for 17 years; she then worked at United Facilities for 6 years; and had recently begun working in the dietary department at River Crossing Rehabilitation in Galesburg.  Sheryl enjoyed kayaking with Catherine on Lake Storey and taking care of her fur kids. Sheryl served in the United States Army for 2 years.

Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no services are planned.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels of Galesburg.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family atwww.watsonthomas.com.
