Wayne E. Rader, age 85, formerly of Monmouth, IL passed away at 1:41 am on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at his residence in Dunlap, Illinois. Wayne was born on November 16, 1930 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of George F. and Jeannett H. (VanTine) Rader. Wayne was educated in the Monmouth School District, and graduated from Monmouth High School with the Class of 1948. He served his Country with the United States Army in the Korean Conflict. After his service, Wayne attended Monmouth College, where he graduated with a business degree in 1957. On June 15, 1957, Wayne married V. Maye Hawkins in Monmouth, IL and she is surviving. He began work at the Farm Bureau in Princeton, IL. He was then transferred to Stronghurst and later to Carlinville, IL where he was the manager of the Farm Bureau. Wayne returned to Monmouth in 1970 and worked as an auditor for an area hotel chain. After his retirement, he was a substitute teacher for the local school districts and taught many classes. He was an active member of the 1st Baptist Church and later the Faith United Presbyterian Church where he sang in the Choirs. He was a member of the American Legion. Wayne is survived by his wife Maye of Dunlap, IL, two daughters; Pamela (Bac) Pham of Dunlap, IL, and Theresa Anderson of Scottsburg, IN, one son; Stephen (Patricia) Rader of Falls Church, VA, four grandchildren; Vivian, Benjamin, George, and Sophia. Also surviving is one brother, Larry (Janice) Rader of Galesburg, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service is planned for 10:30 am on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. His family will be present to receive friends from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Monmouth Cemetery.
