Lillian Theresa Imler, 104, went to meet her beloved Donald at 3:45 p.m. on April 16, 2016. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving girls.
Lillian was born March 20, 1912 in Jubilee Township, Peoria County. One of 12 children, she was the daughter of John Henry and Katherine (Best) Groeper. She married the love of her life, Donald Harry Imler on July 2, 1932 in Lewistown. After 72 years of marriage, Donald preceded her in death on April 21, 2004.
Lillian is survived by her two daughters; Karen (Barry) Hall of Knoxville, and Kathy McKinney of Ohio; three grandchildren, Lisa(Brad) Weedman, Barbara (Scott)Lester both of Knoxville, and Rose (Kenny) Stefl of Ohio; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Weedman, Emily Weedman, Alec Lester, and Lindsey Lester all of Knoxville, and Briley Stefl of Ohio. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents, her grandson, James McCord, great-granddaughter, Abbey Weedman; and five brothers and six sisters.
Lillian worked as an assembly worker for eleven years for Admiral Corporation. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Lillian loved to crochet, and tat; but most of all, she loved to spend time with her friends and family and socialize. Lillian was always known for saying , “God Bless You.” She will be greatly missed.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Galesburg. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass. Burial will follow mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kickapoo. Rev. Msgr. Ernie Pizzamiglio will officiate. Memorials in Lillian’s honor and be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
