James Franklin “Frank” Cameron

James Franklin “Frank” Cameron, 88 of Abingdon, passed away at 2:32 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
  He was born May 26, 1928 in Ellisville, the son of Albert and Estella Melvin Cameron.  He married Goldie Louise Badger on April 26, 1947 in Macomb. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2016.  He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Albert and Chester, three sisters, Frances, Betty and Hazel, and one half-sister, Alice.
  Frank is survived by his two daughters, Diana (Aaron Dalen) Cameron of Morton and Lori (Brian) Rednour of Abingdon; two grandchildren, C.J. Singleton of Leesville, Louisiana and Cassie Singleton of Pittsfield.
  He was an Army veteran and member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon.  He farmed most of his life.  He was a busy man over the years as he milked cows for the Olinger family, worked at the former Wickes Lumber Company between Abingdon and Galesburg, owned and operated his own fertilizer truck, worked for Cline’s Soil Service and he took care of cattle for the Ray family and the Brown family. Frank enjoyed bowling in his earlier years.  He was member and past president of the Abingdon Community Festival Association.  He also participated in the figure-8 car races.  He enjoyed spending his spare time with his family and grandkids.
  Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.  Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate.  Burial with military rites will be at the Abingdon Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.
