Roberta “Bert”
E. Wyatt, 85 of London Mills, passed away 8:04 a.m. Saturday,
February 4, 2017 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, with her family at
her side.
She was born
January 27, 1932 in London Mills, the daughter of Lawrence Jerold and
Esther Della Shumard Cook. She married Rabon Wyatt on December 23,
1982 at the Methodist Church in London Mills.
Bert is survived
by her loving husband, Rabon; two sons, Robert Dean (Kathy) Allen of
London Mills and Oscar Lee (Mary Lue) Riley of Galesburg; two
daughters, Sharon Kay (Danny) Boyer of Rapatee and Peggy Lou Riley of
White Hall; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and five
great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces, nephews
and their families.
She was preceded
in death by her parents, two sons, Jerold Ray Allen and Rick Riley,
three brothers, Don, Fred and Everett Cook, three grandchildren and
one great-grandson.
She had lived in
the Abingdon and London Mills areas all of her life. She was a cook
at several area businesses including The Junction Restaurant,
Abingdon Nursing Home and The Pantry. She was a member of the
Abingdon American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary. She also enjoyed
attending Blue Grass music festivals, shopping, and cooking for her
family. Her family was her life.
To celebrate her
life, her family will receive relatives and friends from 4 p.m. to 7
p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon
Chapel. Cremation will be accorded. Private burial of her ashes
will be at a later date at the East Midway Cemetery near London
Mills.
Memorials may be
made to the family for a fund to be established in her honor.
