Corinne L. Erickson, 92, of Galesburg, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in Marigold Health Care Center.
She was
born April 21, 1922 in Galesburg, the daughter of William B. and
Adelaide (Vasey) Megginson. She married Eugene L. Erickson on June
1, 1946 in Galesburg.
She is
survived by her husband of 68 years, Eugene; a son, Jeffery (and
Mary) Erickson of Burlington, Iowa; a daughter, Linda (and Michael)
Leahy of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Jennifer (and Rodger) Kelley,
Joy (and Steve) Hall, Michelle Leahy, Patrick Leahy, and Megan Leahy;
four great grandchildren, Jordan Kelley, Jacob Kelley, Nicholas Hall,
and Joey Hall; and two sisters, Peggy Worden of Tucson, Arizona and
Estelle Trask of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents
and a sister, Geneva Leininger.
Corinne
graduated from Galesburg High School in 1940 and earned her LPN
degree from Carl Sandburg College in 1970. She worked as an LPN for
a number of doctor’s offices in Galesburg and at a nursing home
while living in Wisconsin. She was a member of First Christian
Church and the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 Auxiliary.
Corinne was an avid Bridge player and was on a ladies golf league at
Bunker Links. She was a Reading Buddy at Nielson School and
volunteered for Cottage Corner Gift Shop.
Funeral
service will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. M.J. Fitch will
officiate. Visitation will be 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
Cremation will be accorded following the funeral with burial in
Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may
