Judith K. Slagel, age 54 of rural Galesburg, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at home.
Judy
was born on June 14, 1960 in Kewanee, the daughter of Donald W. and
Martha Nye Lingwall. She married Terry L. Slagel on October 31, 1997 at
their home.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; one daughter, Katie (Jake) Lewis
of St. Louis, Missouri; one grandson, Miles Lewis; three sisters,
Brenda Anderson, Melissa Delgado and Amy Lingwall all of Galesburg; one
half-sister, Dawn Lingwall of Galesburg; one step-brother, James R.
Forshee of Galesburg; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews. Judy is also survived by her four legged baby, Tessa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She attended school in Toulon until her senior year, when she moved to
Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1978. She worked
at Cottage Hospital as a lab technician and as a store clerk from 1988
to 2010. She then worked as a manifest operator at Dick Blick from 2011
until August of 2014, having to stop work due to her illness. She
enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and her beloved poodles.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at the
Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
