Mrs. Rita K. Bland age 70 of
Galesburg, Ill. died Saturday November 29, 2014 at 9 AM at OSF St. Francis
Hospital in Peoria, Ill..
She was born February 14,
1944 in Galesburg, Ill. the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy V. Poiset Bland.
She married Roger Black on July 31, 1965 in Galesburg and later married Warren
Hatch.
Rita is survived by two sons
Kenneth Black of Galesburg, Ill., and Douglas and (Becky) Black of Kewanee,
Ill., two close cousins Forest Strum of Iowa and Eugene Strum of Galesburg,
Ill.. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She attended St. Joseph’s
High School and graduated from Galesburg High School. She graduated from Black
Hawk College nursing program in Kewanee, Ill.. Rita was an LPN at Marigold
Health Care Center in Galesburg for 30 years before retiring and also was a
beauty operator in her home.
She was a member of Corpus
Christi Catholic Church, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing,
knitting, crafting, and loved animals especially her dog “Shadow”.
Funeral services will be at 7:30
PM Thursday December 4, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel Galesburg with Father
William Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7:30 PM. Cremation will
follow services with burial at East Linwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials
may be made to the Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made
