Hazel Leota Vilardo, 93, of Galesburg, died at 10:59 p.m.
Friday, November 16, 2014 at home.
Hazel was born February 26, 1921 near Dahinda, the daughter
of Leonard J. and Mary Elizabeth West Folger.
She married Walter L. Vilardo on February 7, 1946 in Corpus Christi
Catholic Church, Galesburg. He preceded
her in death. Hazel is survived by two
sons, Gary (Rhonda) L. Vilardo of Lincolnton, NC and Larry M. Vilardo of
Galesburg; and one sister, Mary E. Strawn of Galesburg. She is also survived by two grandchildren,
Anthony Vilardo and Amanda (Clarence) Rose; and two great grandchildren, Travis
Vilardo and Sabrina Rose. Along with her
husband, Hazel was preceded in death by one brother, John J. Folger and her
parents.
Hazel graduated from Williamsfield High School and worked
for 8 years in the dietary department at the Galesburg Research Hospital prior
to becoming a homemaker.
Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held 1 to 3
p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and
Crematory, Galesburg. Graveside burial
of cremated remains will be in the spring in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens,
Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the
Galesburg Rescue Mission. Expressions of
