Jessie R. Hasten Fancher, age 92, of Monmouth, passed away at 4:01 pm on
December 5, 2014 at the Roseville Country Manor Nursing Home in Roseville,
Illinois. Jessie was born on June 21. 1922 in Blandinsville, Illinois and is the
daughter of Elias T. and Mary M. Barrett Sly. She was raised in LaHarpe and
Blandinsville, Illinois where she attended local school and graduated from the
Blandinsville High School. Jessie first married Lloyd N. Hasten in 1941 in
Hancock County and he passed away on July 18, 1970. She later was married to
Basil T. Fancher in Monmouth, Illinois and he also preceded her in death on
September 5, 1996. Jessie was a cook and worked in the kitchens of Haring and
Willits elementary schools for the Monmouth School District. She later worked as
a cook at Applegate Inn Nursing Home in Monmouth for a time. She was a member of
the VFW Ladies Auxillary and the American Legion, both in Monmouth, Illinois .
She most of all loved her family and grandchildren. Jessie loved her gardening,
mushroom hunting in the spring, fishing, and the out of doors.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruth (Larry) McVey of Trivoli, IL; Nancy
"Buddy" Oaks and Maryann (Ike) Skees, both of Monmouth, Illinois. There are
three sons, Raymond (Shirley) Hasten of Kirkwood, IL; Jack (Roberta) Hasten and
Jerry (Peggy) Hasten, both of Monmouth, Illinois and one sister, Mildred Andrews of
Burlington, Iowa. There are 16 grandchildren, 34
great grandchildren, and 21 great great grandchildren surviving. She is preceded
in her death by her parents, both husbands, one son, three grandson, one great
grandson, and four sisters.
A graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday December 10,
2014 at the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth, IL followed by her
interment. No family visitation is currently being planned by her family. A
memorial fund is being established for VFW Ladies Auxillary. To leave a
