
He was born on July 24, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of
Lawrence Phillip and Velma Ethel Perry Anderson. He married Winifred M.
“Winnie” Wendland on May 11, 1956 in Pekin. She preceded him in death
on November 10, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two
infant sons, and one brother, Bob.
Larry is survived by one son, James Anderson of Galesburg; one
daughter, Terri Kisler of Galesburg; and two brothers, William “Bill”
Anderson and Louie Anderson, both of Galesburg.
He grew up in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School. He had
lived in Abingdon since 1969. He worked at Gates Rubber Company in
Quality Control & Lab, retiring in 1996. He was a Navy veteran of
the Korean War and a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post
#381 in Abingdon. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Larry was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed attending the
sporting events in Abingdon. He was also a frequent contributor to the
editor’s page of the Galesburg Register-Mail.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Friday,
December 5, 2014 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev.
Russ Witkowski will officiate. Visitation will be noon to 1p.m. Friday
at the chapel. Burial of his ashes will be in the Abingdon Cemetery
with military honors by American Legion Post #381.
