Lyle E. Wright, Sr., 93 of Galesburg, died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg.
He
was born on August 14, 1921 in Du Quoin, Illinois, the son of Jonah
Dewey and Lela Knapp Wright. He married Rachael M. Green on October 21,
1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death on January 9,
2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Connie
Sue Wright, a son Lyle “Gene” Wright, Jr., a brother, Jackie “Jack”
Wright and a sister, Alberta Prather.
Lyle is survived by one son, Dewey (Roberta) Wright of Sebastian, Florida; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He served in the Army during WW II. He worked as an assembler at
Admiral Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for 30 years, retiring on
February 28, 1985. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene
in Galesburg. He was also a member of the VFW Post #2657 and American
Legion Post #285, both in Galesburg.
Cremation will be accorded. Private family graveside service will be
held at East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg. There will be no
visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of
arrangements.
