Esther
Breeden, age 78, of East Galesburg, Illinois, passed away Tuesday,
January 13, 2015 at 9:55 P.M. at the Knox County Nursing Home in
Knoxville, Illinois.
Esther
was born on May 22, 1936 in Rogersville, Tennessee the daughter of
Oscar and Myrtle (Simpson) Hensley. She married James J. Breeden on
October 8, 1959. She worked at the former Galesburg Jumer’s and
Sheraton Inn as a cook for 26 years. She enjoyed gardening, word search
puzzles, going to the riverboats and she loved her dog, Cocoa. She was
generous, often giving help to those in need.
Esther
is survived by her husband; James J. Breeden of Knoxville, daughter;
Sherry Peacock of Knoxville, son; Mark Breeden of Nashville, Tennessee,
grandchildren; Justin Funk of Abingdon, Shawna Peacock of Knoxville,
great-granddaughter; Janiyah Davis of Knoxville, brother; Gene (Evelyn)
Hensley of East Galesburg, sisters; Minnie Ruth (Kelley) Head of
Tennessee, Nellie Biddle of Alabama, Judy Dennis of Alabama, Dorothy
Anderson of Galesburg, half-brothers; Shields (Norma Jean) Hensley of
Galesburg and Ralph Hensley of Galesburg. Also surviving is Al Peacock
who was near and dear to her heart.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; Oscar and Myrtle, half-brothers;
Bud Hensley, Ray Hensley, and half-sister; Edith Hensley.
Per
her request, cremation rites will be accorded. A graveside memorial
service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to
the St Jude Children’s Hospital. The Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and
