
Dale served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He farmed near Stronghurst all of his adult life, and also served as president of Stronghurst Grain & Merchandise Company for many years. He was an elder, deacon, and trustee of the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church. He was a 60 year member of the Stronghurst American Legion, and had served as commander of the Honor Guard for many years. He enjoyed bowling, and was the last remaining original member of the Henderson County Farm Bureau Mens’ Bowling League.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Shirley (Robert) Kane of Biggsville, IL, two sons, Peter (Sandy) Anderson of North Aurora, IL, Paul (Debra) Anderson of Stronghurst, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one sister, Martha (David) Albaugh of Anaheim, CA, one sister-in-law, Patricia Anderson, and several nieces and nephews, including Janet Martin and Michael Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert Anderson.
A Celebration Of Life Service, followed by military rites, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 3, 2015 in the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the service, and burial will be in the Biggsville Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation.
