Harold Marvin Smith

Harold Marvin Smith, 75, of St Augustine, IL passed away at 6:15 PM Sunday February 15, 2015 peacefully at his residence. He was born September 9, 1939 in St. Augustine to Claude and Violet (Colwell) Smith. He married Vivian L. Ray on May 3, 1963 in Missouri. She survives. 

Also surviving are two children, Martha (David Hiatt) Sandman of Abingdon, IL; Michael Smith Sr. of St. Augustine, IL; three grandchildren, Marcus (Amber) Sandman of Galesburg, IL; Maria (Jesus) DeLaCruz of Abingdon, IL; Michael Smith Jr. of Abingdon, IL; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Collura of Galesburg, IL and Eileen Johnson of Bakersfield, CA. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ruth Stocco; Evelyn Young and one infant brother Herbert Smith. 

Harold and Vivian shared over 51 years of marriage. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and trapping. He had a passion for collecting arrowheads and coins. In 1977 Harold along with his wife opened Smith Bate Shop in St. Augustine were the served the community for 37 Years. 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday February 19, 2015 at the Corman Memorial Home in Avon, IL where visitation will be one hour prior to services. The Pastor Rodney Fegan will officiate. Interment will be in Babbitt Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
