Helen L. Hamman

Mrs. Helen L. Hamman, 76, of Galesburg, died at 6:08 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

She was born February 10, 1938 in rural Monmouth, Illinois the daughter of Dale and Mabel Grace Smith. She married Arthur E. Hamman on August 31, 1968 in Galesburg. He survives.

Also surviving is her daughter, Judith (Corey) Remington of Whitewood, South Dakota; two step sons, Kevin (Terri) Hamman of Galesburg and Bruce (Debbie) Hamman of Kenmore, Washington; a step daughter, Shari Johnson of Bexley, Ohio; two brothers, William (Nabuko) Smith of Corona, California and Robert Smith of Spring Hill, Florida; her sister, Nancy Mahaffey of Monmouth,Illinois; 12 step grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.

She worked in the Finance Department for the City of Galesburg for over 20 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Galesburg Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #235.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Order of Eastern Star services will follow the visitation.  Rev. Bob Wakefield will officiate funeral services immediately following. Memorials may be made to the Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star Endowment Trust Fund.
