Mrs. Ardis Y. Pierson, 82, of
Galesburg went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Heartland Health Care Center.
Ardis was born October 6,
1932 in Marquette, Kansas the daughter of C. Albin and Lillie Fern Adell. She
married Paul E. “Pep” Pierson on August 21, 1960 in Galesburg. He preceded her
in death on January 14, 2013.
She is survived by her two
sons, David F. (wife Kim) Pierson of O’Fallon, Illinois and Daniel R. Pierson
of Galesburg; and seven grandchildren, Lindsay Pierson, Kyle Pierson, Andrew
Pierson, Joshua Cameron “Cam” Pierson, Cathyrn “Caty” Pierson, Carter Pierson
and Caleb Pierson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her
two brothers, Morland and Ferman Adell.
Ardis graduated from high
school in Marquette, Kansas. She
graduated from North Park College in 1952 and received her bachelor’s degree in
elementary education from Western Illinois University in 1958. She was a life-long
member of the Covenant Church and started out, for many years in Galesburg, as
a Parish worker. Ardis taught kindergarten there in the early 70’s and served
as Director of Christian Education. She enjoyed singing in the church choir for
over 50 years, served on the Diacontate Board, taught Sunday School and was the
director of the Children’s Church. Ardis was also a member of the Ladies Circle
at the church and loved ministering to “Shut-ins” in her later years. She
worked for the Knox County Board of Elections from 1983 to 1997, and served as
its executive director for the last nine years of her employment there. Ardis also
enjoyed singing in the Commuity Chorus for many years.
Funeral Services are
scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Covenant Church. Rev.
Thomas Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday evening at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date in
Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Covenant Church. Online
