Richard W. Farquhar, age 67, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, passed away Monday February 23, 2015 in the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was born November 5, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Frank and Ruth Boyens Farquhar.
After graduation from high school, Richard served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. While on leave visiting family, he met and fell in love with Susan Christiano. They were wed on July 15, 1972 in West Palm Beach, Florida at St. Luke’s Catholic Church.
Richard pursued his Bachelor’s degree at Northern Illinois University and later received a Master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. He was a valued employee of Palm Beach County, Florida, for twenty seven years. He was always up for a baseball game and enjoyed traveling, fun and family.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Troiano of Lake City, Florida, one son Mathew (Amy) Farquhar of Jacksonville, Florida, one grandson, Joseph Troiana, one brother, Robert Farquhar of Columbus, Maryland, and two brothers in law, Michael (Therese) Christiano, and Jon Christiano.
The graveside service, with Military Rites, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 7, 2015 in the Carman Cemetery, Carman, Illinois. No visitation is planned. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is in charge of local arrangements. Condolences may be left at banksandbeals.com
