Charles LeRoy Clark

Charles LeRoy Clark, 79, of Galesburg, died at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born September 22, 1935 in Pleasant Twp., Fulton County, Illinois the son of Guy T. and Mary (Chockley) Clark.  He married Cheryl S. Myler in 1980 in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; four daughters, Etta Martin of Galesburg, Helen (and Bill) Keener of LaPorte, Minnesota, Jamie (and Jim Bob) Bromley of South Haven, Mississippi, and Nora Luallen of Keithsburg, Illinois; two sons, Garry Fox and Sean (and Belinda) Fox, both of Galesburg; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Penny Clark; two great grandsons; a brother and a sister.

Charles was a delivery driver for Rogers Brothers for 43 years.  After retirement, he delivered the Register-Mail.  He attended Ipava Twp. schools.  Charles enjoyed bowling and NASCAR and he loved the St. Louis Cardinals.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1961.  Charles received the National Defense Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.


Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. with military honors. Rev. Gary Bryan officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
