Janis E. Haptonstall, 76, of
Galesburg, formerly of Victoria, died at 12:38 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2015 in
the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
She was born March 3, 1939 in
Taylor Mines, Kentucky the daughter of Homer and Earleen (Daughtry) Embry. She married Francis “Frank” Haptonstall on
June 7, 1986 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg.
She is survived by her
husband, Frank of Galesburg; a son, Joseph (and Darlene) Raymond of Des Moines,
Iowa; a daughter, Rachel Raymond of Marseilles, Illinois; five grandchildren;
and a sister, Joyce Hendrix of Galesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeff Raymond; and a
brother-in-law, Stan Hendrix.
Janis and Frank “team drove”
together for 21 years, mostly with DCM Transport. They retired in June 2008. Janis was a former member of Calvary Assembly
of God Church and currently attended First Church of the Open Bible. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, Swedish Weaving,
quilting, and reading.
Cremation will be
accorded. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m.
Saturday, March 28, 2015 at First Church of the Open Bible. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with
Pastor Bob Malone officiating. Burial
will be at a later date in Victoria Cemetery.
