John
Henry Phillips, age 73, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 4:20 P.M. on Tuesday,
March 10, 2015 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.
He
was born on June 6, 1941 in Beardstown, Illinois the son of Russell and Marjorie
Young Phillips. He was raised by his father and step mother, Russell and Opal
Phillips. He attended Bushnell – Prairie City Schools. He married Ruby Taylor
on September 9, 1975 in Quincy, Illinois.
Surviving
are two sons: Tim (Tabitha Harris) Phillips of Galesburg, Illinois and Arthur
(Sherry) Kitch of Wataga, Illinois; one daughter-in-law: Julie Kitch of
Galesburg, Illinois; Eleven grandchildren: Skylar, Raegan, Jacob, Draven, and
John Russell Phillips, Matthew, Rayna, Zack, Kayla, Nial, and Torie Kitch;
Great grandchildren: Brylee Kitch and Kinsley Schott; two sisters: Molly
Anderson of Aurora, Illinois and Marjorie (Terry) Warner; one brother: Ronnie
Leatherdale of Quincy, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, step
mother, and one son: Richard Kitch.
He
was a member of the Bushnell Masonic Lodge T.J. Pickett 307. He was an avid
NASCAR and Steelers Fan, and enjoyed playing pitch and being with his
grandchildren.
Funeral
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the
Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois Rev. Harold
Berrian will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. on
Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in
Knoxville, Illinois. Cremation Rites will be accorded after services. Memorials
