Lyle A. Keever

Lyle A. Keever, age 88, of Gladstone, Illinois passed away at the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst, IL on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 3:57 pm. 

Lyle was born on March 15, 1926 in Gladstone, Illinois and is the son of George and Edith Schmolt Keever. He was raised in Gladstone where he attended local schools. He was married to Barbara L. Parrish on March 3, 1946 in Gladstone, Illinois and she passed away on January 3, 1985. Lyle worked briefly on the railroad, but farming was his life. He was a grain and livestock farmer in Henderson County all of his life. Lyle enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting old tractors. He belonged to many pool and bowling leagues. He enjoyed being an active member of the Oquawka Eagles Club. He later began traveling around the country with friends. Lyle was an avid wrestling fan and enjoyed watching the matches on T.V. with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Dixie ( Joseph ) Boughton of Oquawka, Illinois and his daughter-in-law Edna (Vannie dec'd) Keever of Gladstone, IL.; one sister, Ruby (Jim) Gaddis of Oklahoma, and three brothers, Albert Keever and Milton Keever, both of Oquawka, IL and Lloyd ( Mary ) Keever of Bluffdale, IL. There are 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren surviving. A number of nieces and nephews also are surviving. Lyle is preceded in his death by his parents, wife, one son, one daughter, one grandson, two sisters, and five brothers.

A funeral service will be at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, IL on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 10:00 am. Lyle's family will be present to receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Oaklane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst.
