Margery L. Albin, 89, of
Galesburg, died at 5:40 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 in OSF St. Francis
Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born April 22, 1925
in rural Ipava, Illinois the daughter of Carl Nathan and Mattie (Smith)
Smith. She first married Fredrick Wayne
Cook. She later married Don Dexter in
Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in
death November 11, 1981. She then
married William Albin on July 28, 1984 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death February 11, 2004.
She is survived by three
sons, Gary Wayne Cook of Galesburg, Michael Lee Cook of North Las Vegas,
Nevada, and Thomas LeRoy Cook of Galesburg; a daughter, Pamela Sue (and Ron)
Corbin of Galesburg; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great
grandchildren; six step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; a sister,
Donna Moore of Spring Valley, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded
in death by her parents; a step son, Michael Goodwin; three brothers, Loren
Smith, Carl Max Smith, and Leland Smith; and a sister, Maxine Homer.
Margery was a lead inspector
at Maytag Corporation for 23 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Ralph M. Noble American
Legion Post 285 Auxiliary, the 40 & 8, Galesburg Women’s Club, Bunco Club,
and Dominos Club. Margery had also been
a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
40 & 8 service will be at
5 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 followed by visitation until 7 p.m. at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
Private family graveside service will be Thursday, March 26, 2015 in
Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Phyllis Sterr officiating. A celebration of life will follow the
graveside service at 11 a.m. at Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorial contributions may be made to Ralph M.
Noble American Legion Post 285 Auxiliary.
