Naomi V. Waits, 95, of
Galesburg, died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Hawthorne Inn.
She was born June 3, 1919 in
Winchester, Illinois the daughter of Thomas and Daisy (Evans) Edmonson. She married James Quinn on June 19, 1939 in
Winchester. He preceded her in death
September 17, 1944. She then married
Clayton T. “Ted” Waits on May 11, 1946 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death April 26, 1994.
She is survived by two
daughters, Connie S. (and Robert) English and Donna (and Derek) VanUnnik, both
of Galesburg; seven grandchildren, Kari (and Jason) Forster, Jason (and
Shannon) Hare, Erin (and Jeremy) Morris, Justin Hare, David (and Christa)
VanUnnik, Miranda (and Shawn) Hedden, and Joseph VanUnnik; 10 great
grandchildren; a special niece, Shirley Hardister; and a special nephew,
Richard (and Kathy) Mitchell. In
addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson,
Jeremy L. Hare on August 25, 2005; and two sisters, Iva Hardister and Stella
Mitchell.
Naomi was a homemaker. As a devout Catholic, she was a member of
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Ladies of Mary. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and antiquing.
The Rosary will be prayed at
noon, Friday, March 13, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel
followed by visitation. Funeral service
will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel with Deacon Rod Gray officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to
