Jim Hawbaker

Jim Hawbaker, 69, of Chicago, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill. after a fatal fall.

He was born Aug. 27, 1945 in Fort Madison. He grew up and attended schools in West Point. He was retired after 30 years of service with the Santa Fe Railroad.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Hamilton); daughter, Katie Hawbaker (Justin); son, Christopher (Rosy); two grandchildren; a brother, Bob (Janet), of Trinidad, CO; sisters, Harriet "Bunny" Baggarly (Brad), of Upland, CA and Barbara Pickard (Jerry),of Fort Madison, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother and his parents preceded him in death.

A committal of his ashes will take place at 4:00 pm on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Oquawka Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of local arrangements.
