Dale S. Peake, age 94, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 11:53 am on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Courtyard Estates in Monmouth. He was born on June 13, 1921 in Hamilton, Illinois, the son of George and Nellie (Swiglson) Peake. He was reared and educated in the Hamilton and Nauvoo areas through the eighth grade. Dale was previously married to Velma Loring, and was later married on September 3, 1949 to Dorothy E. Corbin in Calousa, Illinois. She is surviving. Dale was a farmer in grain and livestock here in Warren County for 65 years. He also sold seed corn for the Burris Seed Corn Company for 10 years. Dale also was employed as a bus driver for 15 years with the Biggsville and Warren School Districts. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Peake of Monmouth; two sons, Randy (Sandy) Peake of Wataga, IL and Gary Cameron of Hamilton, IL, one step-son, Kenneth (Evelyn) Hull of Jenison, MI; one daughter, Karen Buckert of Hamilton, Il; one step-daughter, Carole (John) House of Roseville, IL; grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Feely, Jason Peake, Randy Hull, Shawn Hull, Stacy Sunn, and Michele Smith; and great-grandchildren, Jordon Hull, Jade Hull, Zackary Sunn, Sean Sunn, Austin Smith, Andrew Feely, and Grace Feely. One sister, Maxine Hanson of Hamilton, IL also survives. Dale is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Peake.
A graveside funeral service is planned for 10:30 am on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Monmouth Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 prior to the service at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for the Strom Center of Monmouth.
