Curt Eisenmayer

 
John Curt Eisenmayer, age 90 , of Stronghurst, Illinois passed away at 5:38 a.m. Friday September 4, 2015 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst. He was born March 7, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Herman Andrew and Ina Frances Leonhard Eisenmayer. On June 18, 1949, he married Elizabeth Ann Ahrenhold in Chicago, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2004. On October 11, 2008, he married Sharon Schoof.
Curt was the University Of Illinois Cooperative Extension Advisor in Henderson County for 40 years and Hancock County for two years. He was a graduate of Trenton, Illinois High School, then served three years in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. He attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois, then graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign. He also received post-graduate studies from Western Illinois University, Southern Illinois University and the University Of Illinois.
Curt had served on the Carthage, Illinois fire department, and was Fire Chief of the M.S.T. Fire Department in Stronghurst from 1977 to 2014.. He also gave the weekly farm report on KBUR radio in Burlington since 1952. He was an instructor for the Illinois Department of Conservation, teaching hunter safety courses since 1975. He also served on the Henderson County Board, Henderson County Heart Association, Red Cross, Henderson County Fair Board, WIRC board of directors, Extension Council board of directors and Henderson County 4-H.
Curt was a member of the Stronghurst American Legion, Trenton Masonic Lodge, Royal Arch Masons of Monmouth, Illinois Council at Knoxville, Quincy Consistory, National Rifle Association, Illinois Beef Association, American Tree Farm Association, Blandinsville Order Of The Eastern Star, and the Carman United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon, two daughters, Catherine Ann (Michael) Shea, of St. Louis, MO, Margaret Christine (Daniel) Olsen of Raymore, MO, one son, Thomas Conrad (Linda) Eisenmayer of Anchorage, AK, one step son, John (Chelli) Schoof of Burlington, IA, one step daughter, Jill (Frank) Whitmore of East Moline, IL, 9 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty, one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Yakle, one granddaughter, a brother, Allan Eisenmayer, and another brother in infancy.
Masonic Rites will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday September 8th at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Sronghurst followed by visitation with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in the Carman United Methodist Church with Rev. Karna Peterson officiating. Burial with military rites, will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery near Stronghurst. In lieu of flowers, Curt requested friends plant trees in his memory, or contribute to memorials established for the Carman United Methodist Church and the Stronghurst United Methodist Church.
