Lula Jean Jones

Lula Jean Jones, age 68, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 12:30 am at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois on Thursday, October 1, 2015. Lula was born on December 30, 1946 in her family home in Greenbush, Illinois, the daughter of Alfred William and Delma Mae (Reimolds) Jones. Jean was raised in the Berwick area and attended school there. She also attended the Muddy Corners School. She began caring for the elderly in their homes at a young age and enjoyed that for many years. Jean then worked at Glastex in Monmouth. She later studied for and received her Certified Nurses Assistant degree and worked for several nursing homes in the area. Jean also built yard barns for sale to the public. She very much loved cooking and preparing meals for her family. Jean was blessed with the gift of music and loved to sing country music. She was a part of several country bands locally. Jean loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. She is survived by one daughter; Lula Matchell of LaFollette, TN, one son; Alfred (Jen) Waterman of West Burlington, IA, grandchildren; Andrew, Nicholas, and Zackrey Waterman, Makenna Brockett, Jeanne Carroll, Madison, Telia, and Stephan Matchell, two brothers; Michael (Sharon) Jones of Monmouth, IL and Stephan (Donna) Jones of North Dartmouth, MA. Also surviving are one great-granddaughter, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, three daughters, and one great-granddaughter.

A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established by Jean's family and will be named at a later date.
