Clyde K. Ludlum, Jr.

Clyde K. Ludlum, Jr. age 84 of Bushnell, IL passed away on Tuesday December 22, 2015 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. Clyde was born on November 18, 1931 in Canton, IL to Clyde K. and Lula Mae Rohrer Ludlum. He married Marge Votsmier on February 14, 1956 in Jacksonville, IL. He is survived by his wife Marge, 2 Sons and 2 Daughters – Gary (Lisa) Ludlum of Prairie City, IL, Sandra (Scott) Warner of Apex, N.C., Sherry Hufstedler of Darien, IL, and Ron (Lisa) Ludlum of Bushnell, IL, 11 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Brother and 3 Granddaughters. 

Clyde grew up in and attended school in Canton, IL. He served in the Air Force from 1951 – 1955. It was during his time in the service that he met his future wife, Marge Votsmier, when they both served as attendants in the wedding of his Air Force buddy and her sister. When he finished his military service, he came to the town of Bushnell to live and take over the grocery store that his brother opened in 1954. Clyde was a second generation grocer and grew up working in the family grocery store in Canton, IL. that was operated by his father and mother. Clyde operated the Bushnell store for over 30 years and also had grocery stores in Roseville and Canton for a number of years. He was a role model for many young people over the years, including his own children, on the importance of having a strong work ethic and how to do a job right. He was a dedicated supporter of the Bushnell Chamber of Commerce and actively involved in the community throughout his life including many years as a member of the Bushnell Lions Club. Clyde also served on the board of directors of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association for several years. He was also a member of the Bushnell United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday December 28, 2015 at the Bushnell United Methodist Church with Pastor Trisha Chapman officiating. There will be no family visitation but friends may call from 2:00 – 6:00 P.M. Sunday December 27, 2015 at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, IL. Burial will be in the Bushnell Cemetery.
