Judy K. Howe

Judy K. Howe, age 75, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 8:56 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. She was born on August 19, 1940 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Allan D. and Mary A. (Brimmer) Knox. Judy was raised in Monmouth and attended Monmouth High School where she graduated with the Class of 1958. On October 17, 1958, Judy married James A. Howe at the First Christian Church in Monmouth and he is surviving. Judy began work at the Johnson Insurance Agency. She then worked for the Circuit Clerk of Warren County, the Monmouth Trust and Savings Bank, the National Bank, and Stanton Heating and Cooling from which she retired in 2000. She also worked at Howe Bookkeeping Service in Monmouth. Judy enjoyed many things in life; she was an avid golfer, and winner of the Monmouth Women's City Golf Tournament, baking, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, dancing, and the Monmouth Roseville Titans. She was known within her family as the "collector of gadgets". Her family was a huge part of her life. Judy belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the "Sweet Adeline's" group locally. Judy is survived by her husband James of Monmouth, two daughters; Janet (Dan) Cheek of Monmouth, IL and Jill (Chad) Carlson of Monmouth, IL, two sons; Joey (Paula) Howe of New Castle, PA and Jeff (Lara) Howe of Newport News, VA, grandchildren; Michael Greenlief, Erin Greenlief, Ryan (Abbey) Greenlief, Samantha Cheek, Ryan (Megan) Cheek, Jordan Cheek, Jeremy (Haylee) Ankle, Jennifer (Brent) Stewart, and Ryne Howe, ten great-grandchildren, two brothers; Chuck (Sue) Knox of Thousand Oaks, CA and Leonard (Mary) Knox of Reynolds, IL, and two sisters; Beverley (John) Livermore of Raritan, IL and Sharon (Gene) Cation of Dublin, OH. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and four sisters.
A funeral service is planned for 10:30 am on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Warren County Memorial Park.
