Mary Lucille Valentin

Mary Lucille Valentin, age 88, of Jefferson City, Missouri, formerly of Little York, passed away at 8:31 am on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Jefferson City Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on June 28, 1927, the daughter of Charles Jackson and Pearl Violet (Burbes) Queen. She was reared and educated in Perry County, IL. Later in life, Mary received her GED in Monmouth. On April 14, 1945, she married Arthur Allen Valentin in Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on January 29, 1998. Mary was a homemaker in her own home. Mary began work as a telephone operator. She then worked at Formit Rogers, Monmouth Pottery, Wilson foods, and the Elk's Club as a cook. Mary was active in the Girl Scouts of America and the Boy Scouts of America when her children were involved. She served 19 years as a member of the Harding School PTA. Mary was first a member of the Ninth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. She later attended Faith United Presbyterian Church and lastly Little Cedar United Presbyterian Church in Little York. Mary is survived by one daughter; Violet (Joel) Fleming of Monmouth, IL, three sons; Leroy A. (Carol) Valentin of Little York, IL, Edward C. (Jeanne) Valentin of Nashville, TN, and William D. (Katherine) Valentin of Galesburg, IL, five granddaughters, three grandsons, and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, one daughter, one grandson, two infant sisters; Roberta and Lula.
A funeral service is planned for 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Little Cedar United Presbyterian Church in Little York, IL. Visitation will from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be at the Little York Cemetery.
