Raymond D. Carrier, 92, of Monmouth, passed away at 2:12 a.m., Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Monmouth Nursing Home.
He was born on April 29, 1923 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Leo and Ethel (Kersey) Carrier. Raymond was raised and educated in Roseville, IL and graduated from Roseville High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army from1945 to 1947 after which he returned to the Roseville area to spend the next 60 years farming.
Raymond married Betty Jean Fainter on December 16, 1945 in Roseville, IL. She preceded him in death on November 29, 2015.
Raymond was a devoted family man and avid golfer who enjoyed dancing, woodworking, hunting and telling jokes and stories. He loved “truck farming” by driving around looking at crops and visiting with friends.
He is survived by three sons; Dr. David (Jeana Hayes-Carrier) Carrier of Houston, TX, Steve (Robin) Carrier of Laporte, CO, and Joe (Clare DeFrance) Carrier of Ft. Collins, CO. Also surviving are three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service for Raymond and Betty will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2015, with a visitation to follow the service till 4:30 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, Cremation rites have been accorded.
