Mrs. Carol Jean Carlson, 86, formerly
of Knoxville, Illinois died at 2:37 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in OSF St.
Mary Medical Center.
She was born March 16, 1929
in Henry County, Illinois the daughter of Martin and Violet Peterson Johnson.
She first married Boyd Carlson. She later married Kenny Carlson. He preceded
her in death on January 11, 2013.
She is survived by one son,
Scott Carlson of Oneida, Illinois; two daughters, Cathy (and John) Stromson of
Abingdon, Illinois and Lori (and Jeff) Gardner of Knoxville, Illinois; eight
grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Matt, Ty, Tarryn, Chris, John and Denise; and
three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her
husband, one son, Kent Carlson, her brother, Dale Johnson and two sisters,
Ethel Buckman and Ramona Carlson.
Carol graduated from Woodhull
High School. She also had farmed with Boyd for many years in the Williamsfield
area. Carol worked as a cashier and hostess for the former Sheraton and Jumers
Hotel for 25 years. She currently was a volunteer for Community Treasures and
OSF St Mary Gift Shop. Carol was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in
Knoxville. She enjoyed camping, traveling and her pets. She loved making homemade pies and jams. She
loved spending time with her family and enjoyed shopping and going out to lunch
with her friends.
Funeral services are
scheduled for 1:30 pm Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West
Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Michel Clark will officiate. Visitation will be from
12:30-1:30 pm Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
