Charles L. Emory age 85 of rural Prairie City, IL passed away at 5:30 A.M. Friday January 22, 2016 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Galesburg, IL. He was born on December 30, 1930 in rural Prairie City, IL to Fred and Edith Quigle Emory. He married Rosalie M. Combs in Blandinsville, IL on September 24, 1949. Charles is survived by his wife Rosalie, 3 Daughters – Deborah Maloney, Deana Jo (Donald) Dahmm of Bushnell, IL, Teresa ((Carroll Faught) Emory of Macomb, IL and 1 Son John (Cindy) Emory of Avon, IL and beloved pet, Bo. He is also survived by 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Sister (Dorothy Hensley) and son-in-law (Steve Maloney).
Charles was a lifetime farmer and had a true passion for his farm animals; cattle, hogs, dogs and cats. He was a member of McDonough County Farm Bureau and he was a Korean War Veteran with the 33rd Infantry Division. Charles was also a fireman with the Prairie City Fire Department and a school bus driver for the Bushnell-Prairie City Schools. He obtained his private pilot’s license and very much enjoyed flying. He was a member of the Pleasant Prairie Church in Prairie City, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday January 26, 2016 at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, IL. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 P.M. on Monday January 25, 2016 at the Funeral Home where friends may call after 2:00 P.M. on Monday. Burial will be in the Prairie City Cemetery.
