Fern Robbins

Fern Robbins, 105, of Galesburg, formerly of Victoria, Illinois died at 11:25 A.M. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg, Illinois. 

Fern was born on December 29, 1910 in Conway, Iowa, the daughter of Claire Milton and Maude Iowa (Huogh) Norton.  She attended grade school in Butler, Missouri and graduated from Galesburg High School, Galesburg, Illinois.  She married Howard Irwin “Cappy” Robbins on June 8, 1938 in Davenport, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on March 16, 1989.

Fern is survived by one son, Phillip I. (Anne) Robbins of Victoria, Illinois; one daughter, Ann Catherine (Debbs) Ohl of Trego Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren, and 19 Great Grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Russell Hugh Norton. 

Fern was a hairdresser in her home for many years.  She also was a farmwife.  She was a member of the Victoria United Methodist Church in Victoria, Illinois. 

Cremation rites will be accorded. A graveside memorial service will be held at later date at the Victoria Cemetery, Victoria, Illinois. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Oneida in Charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Victoria United Methodist Church.
