Freedonia Marybelle Ewing, 80, of Galesburg, died
at 12:33 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015, in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born August 5, 1935 in Terre Haute,
Indiana, the daughter of Lloyd L. and Frances E. (Crothers) Taylor. She married Finley Dowd on August 9, 1953 in
Galesburg, Ken Boyd on February 18, 1962 in Galesburg, and Watsy Ewing on
August 4, 1990 in Terre Haute.
She is survived by two sons, Stanley Darnell (and
Robin) Dowd of Lincoln, Nebraska and Kenneth Lee (and Becky) Boyd II of Joliet,
Illinois and daughter, Linda Marie (and Jerry) Tehee of Lincoln, Nebraska;
seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four brothers, Lloyd (and Cindy)
Taylor of Galesburg, Dewey (and Lorine) Taylor of Alabama, Richard (and Sandra)
Taylor of Arizona, and Gregory Taylor of Kewanee, Illinois; and three sisters,
Marietta Jackson of Galesburg, Beatrice (and Raymond) Peoples of Galesburg, and
Ella (and Rev. Harold) Boyd of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents;
brothers, Paul and Charles Taylor; and sister, Wanda Coleman.
Freedonia graduated from Galesburg High School in
1953. She was a homemaker. Freedonia was a devoted member of the Israel
of God’s Church, attending church conferences. She enjoyed singing with her brothers and sisters
and she enjoyed crocheting.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 8,
2016, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Additional visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m.
Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Israel of God’s Church with funeral service following
at 11 a.m. Burial will be in East
Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions
