Earl A. Wilson, 81, of
Galesburg, died at 10:54 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016, in the emergency
room of Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born February 3, 1935
in Galesburg, Ill. the son of Robert R. and Anna Mae Talton Wilson. He married Dorothy G. Mims on August 5, 1967 in
Galesburg, Ill..
He is survived by his wife
Dorothy; a daughter, Lisa Wilson of Galesburg; a brother James and Shirley
Wilson of Aurora, Ill. and grandson Kobe Dickerson of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and two
sons, Darin L. Wilson January 25, 2014 and Michael E. Wilson in 1996, and two
brothers Robert Wilson and Kenneth Wilson.
He graduated from Galesburg
High School in 1954, and attended Monmouth College.
Earl was a police officer for
the City of Galesburg for 30 years retiring May 1989 as a Lieutenant, he was a
private investigator and delivered for HyVee Floral. He taught Law Enforcement
at Carl Sandburg College. He was a member of Greater Heights Worship Center,
and the Police Benevolent & Protective Association Unit #19. He loved to
fish and travel out west.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday,
March 4, 2016, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday,
March 5, 2016, at the chapel with Rev. John Mims and Rev. Andrew Jowers
officiating. Burial will follow in East
Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions
