Jean E. Berry, age 84, of Galesburg, Illinois died
at 6:25 A.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg,
Illinois.
She was born on July 4, 1931 in La Plata, Missouri
the daughter of Otha J. and Opal M Spence Self. She married Jerald Benjamin in
May of 1952 in Dahinda, Illinois. Then she married Robert “Bob” E. Berry on
April 17, 1981 in Knoxville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 27,
2003.
She is survived one son: Bret (Donna) Benjamin of
Knoxville, Illinois; two twin grandsons: Brandon and Nathan Benjamin of
Knoxville, Illinois; and two brothers, Bill (Donna) Self of Galesburg, Illinois
and Jay (Janet) Self of Hudson, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, one sister, Laura Lou and one brother, James M. Self.
She worked for Galesburg Aviation for 22 years, and
then from 1987 until 1995 she assisted her husband in his business Mid America
Express before retiring. She enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles; attending the
Red Hat Society meetings, and most of all being with her grandsons and family.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Knoxville, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on
Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory
in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. David Shreeves officiating. Visitation will be
held from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the
Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. A
Fellowship will take place at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center following the
funeral services before proceeding to the cemetery. Interment will be in the
Williamsfield Cemetery in Williamsfield, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the
Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter. On-line condolences and sympathy
