Anna M. Geer, age 96, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 10:49 am on Monday, April 11, 2016 at her residence. She was born on September 18, 1919 in Alexis, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew P. and Kjestine (Tholund) Scott. She attended schools in the Rozetta and Little York areas. On March 7, 1944, Anna married Floyd Geer in Detroit, MI and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1978. During World War II, Anna worked as an inspector at an airplane manufacturing plant in Detroit. She also worked at Hawcock's Restaurant in the bakery and as a server, Hedrick's Cafe, and the Sunset Restaurant. She also worked at Meling's in Monmouth as a cook. Anna loved quilting, gardening, and was an avid reader. She was also known for baking wonderfully delicious pies for her family and friends. She most loved babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren. Anna is survived by three daughters; Shirley (Dennis) Pickrel of Galesburg, IL, Donna (Richard) Morris of Collierville, TN, and Pamela Geer of Muscatine, IA, four sons; David (Suzanne) Geer of Monmouth, IL, Kenneth (Donna) Geer of Sparta, TN, Charles (Gloria) Geer of Monmouth, IL, and James (Jacki) Geer of Milan, IL, two sisters; Sophie Scott of Monmouth, IL and Audrey Greenstreet of Galesburg, IL. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Anna is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Kjestin Scott.
A funeral service is planned for 10:30 AM on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. Her family plans visitation and to receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the funeral home.
