Harold Lee Waterman, age 72 of rural Stronghurst, Illinois passed away at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday April 27, 2016 at his home. He was born May 27,1943 in Stronghurst, the son of Tim and Olive Kissick Waterman. He was married to Mary Lou Ives. They later divorced. He later married Lois Taylor. They divorced.
Mr. Waterman was a graduate of Stronghurst High School and then served in the Army Reserves. He farmed most of his life near Stronghurst. He also worked at Champion Company, J.I. Case Company, Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant, General Electric Company, and most recently, retired from Will Farms Company in West Burlington.
Survivors include one son, Steve (Tammy) Ives of Burlington, IA, three daughters, Barb Sherdahl of Carman, IL, Lorrie (Tony) Witte of Danville, IA, and Wendy Taylor-Kayser of Stronghurst, seven grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jessica Ives, Kelsey Hall, Austin and Ashley Witte, Kayla Kayser, and Connor Sherdahl, one sister, Shirley Stevenson of New London, IA, and five brothers, Bill Waterman of Farmington, IA, Roy Waterman of Stronghurst, Sam Waterman of Danville, IA, John Waterman of Springfiled, MO and Melvin Waterman of Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Michelle, in infancy, one grandson, Tyler Ives, and three sisters. Vivian Brill, Catherine Waterman and Doris Peterson.
Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday May 2, 2016 in the Stronghurst Cemetery, with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating.
