Helen Lucille Froniabarger-Hamilton, 90, of Galesburg, died
at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Heartland Healthcare Center,
Galesburg.
Helen was born August 9, 1925 in Brookport, Illinois. She is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McGowan Hamilton. She married Walton I.
Froniabarger on July 5, 1953 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death
on April 20, 1989.
Helen is survived by her six granddaughters, Jolean
Overton-Austin of Davenport, Iowa, Londa Hollowell of Oklahoma City, OK, Sydney
Williams of Chicago, Shelia Williams and Michelle Williams of Dubuque, Iowa,
Lisa Williams of Galesburg; four grandsons, Scott Hollowell of Tulsa, OK,
Charles Williams, Jr. , Tyrone Williams both of Galesburg, and Cary Williams of Atlanta, GA;
great-grandchildren, Eric Hollowell, Mark Johnson, and Tristan Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK,
Devyn Mekhi Williams of Chicago, Vonte Hollowell of Kewanee, and Rebecca Braun
of Tulsa, OK; great-great grandchildren, Raegan Hollowell, Khloee Hollowell,Malaijah
Johnson, Markell Johnson, Tristan Johnson Jr, Aiden Johnson and Jayden Johnson
of Oklahoma City, OK. Helen is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces,
nephews and friends. She was preceded in
death by her parents Golean Shannon Hamilton and McGowan Hamilton, her loving
husband, Walton, three brothers, Robert,
Clarence and Waymond Hamilton, and her beloved son, Larry E Hollowell.
Helen worked as a nurse’s assistant at the Galesburg
Research Hospital until its closing in 1985 and then continued her career at
the Cottonwood Nursing Home for thirteen and a half years before finally
retiring in 1999. Helen was a devoted member to Bethesda Missionary Baptist
Church in Galesburg. She loved her church and church family, serving as Church Treasurer,
Benevolence Chairperson, Usher, Mother of the Church and wherever she was
needed, she would gladly volunteer. She
also loved to socialize and attend family and church gatherings. Helen never
met a stranger and was a dear friend to all. Her presence on this Earth will be
divinely missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be 11:00am Thursday April 28, 2016 with
Funeral Services following at 12:00pm, at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church,
210 S. Whitesboro St., Galesburg. Visitation will be held one hour prior to
service. Burial will follow services at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.
Memorials in Helen’s honor may be gifted to Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church.
