Mary R. Schweitzer, age 64, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 1:51 pm. Mary was born May 21, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John S. and Margaret M. (Kroupa) Vandeleur. She attended school in Woodridge, Illinois and attended Downers Grove South High School. On August 22, 1986, Mary married James L. Schweitzer in Dupage County and he is surviving. Mary was a homemaker in her own home. She enjoyed creating abstract art and loved to craft her own jewelry. After the death of her mother, Mary assumed the roll of lovingly tending to the entire family. Mary is survived by her husband James of Oquawka, one daughter, Elizabeth B. Schweitzer of Villa Park, IL, one son, Adam R. Schweitzer of Downers Grove, IL, three sisters; Kate (Pete) Comps of Hampshire, IL, Anne Marie (Tom) Fullerton of Sioux Falls, SD, Bridget (Jerry) Hefley of Ingram, TX , and three brothers; Matthew Vandeleur of Neah Bay, WA, Michael (Peggy) Vandeleur of Bolingbrook, IL, and Christopher Vandeleur of Bayfield, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents.
