Mr. Lloyd H. “Kojak” Taylor


Mr. Lloyd H. “Kojak” Taylor, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Illinois. 

He was born December 16, 1930 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Lloyd L. and Frances E. Crothers Taylor.  He married Utako Saito in August of 1954 in Japan.  He later married Cynthia Snell July 8, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She survives. 

Also surviving are four sons, Gary (and Angie) Taylor of Galesburg, Kenneth Taylor of Galesburg, Jeffery (and Jessica) Taylor of Elk Grove, California, and Thomas (and Daphne) Taylor of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; four daughters, Sabrena Taylor of San Francisco, California, Joan (and Ahmed) Majid of Portland, Oregon, Wanda (and Terry) Mason of Portland, Oregon, and Brenda Taylor of Muscatine, Iowa; three brothers, Richard (and Sandra) Taylor of Arizona, Dewey (and Lorine) Taylor of Alabama, and Gregory Taylor of Galesburg; three sisters, Marietta Jackson of Galesburg, Beatrice (and Raymond) Peoples of Galesburg, and Ella (and Rev. Harold) Boyd of Galesburg; 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Paul, Charles, and Kenneth Taylor; and two sisters, Wanda Coleman and Freedonia Ewing. 

Kojak worked for B.N.S.F. Railroad for 10 years.  He worked for Cox Investigation Agency for 10 years.  He then was a cab driver in Galesburg for 25 years and retired December 1992.  He was in the United States Air Force for four years serving in Okinawa, Japan.  He was a member of Israel of God’s Church in Galesburg. 


Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Additional visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Israel of God’s Church.  Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harold L. Boyd officiating.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg with military honors.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
