Mrs. Nola I. Bloom

NOLA I BLOOM


Mrs. Nola I. Bloom, 91, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away peacefully at 7:33 am Wednesday, April 20, 2016.

She was born August 13, 1924 in Monmouth, Illinois the daughter of Clarence and Bessie Marie Smith Matson. She married Frank J. Bloom on January 9, 1946 in Galesburg. They were married for 62 years before his passing on December 28, 2008.

Nola is survived by her two sons, Frank J. Bloom, Jr. of Toulon, Illinois and David G. and Pamela Bloom of Galesburg; and four grandchildren, Bridget and Erik Wessel of Grafton, Wisconsin, Scott Bloom of Bloomington, Illinois, Kevin and Heather Bloom of Cambridge, Illinois and David J. Bloom of Galesburg; four great grandchildren, Aspen Bloom, Nathaniel, Kayla and Kyle Bloom; two nieces, Debi and Kent Halsted of Whittier, California, Kristin and Thomas Gajdowski of Saegertown, Pennsylvania; one nephew, Timothy Paxson of Nashville, Tennessee, several great nieces and great nephews and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, and her sister, Irma Mae Garrett.

Nola worked as a secretary for Gale Products, The Continental Clothing Store, Sears and Gates Rubber Company. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1942. She was a member of the Viking Club of Moline and the Flemish American Club of Kewanee. Nola was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the WELCA group and Christiana Circle.


Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, April 25, 2016 at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Pamela Marolla and Rev. Vincent Marolla will officiate.  Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am Monday at the church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
