Lyle H. Collinson, 88, of
Galesburg, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the Knox County
Nursing Home.
He was born March 25, 1928,
in Galva, the son of Joseph and Doris (Bleu) Collinson. He married Evonne Lanoue. He later married Myrtis Carlson on September
26, 1952 in Galva.
He is survived by his wife of
63 years, Myrt; four sons, Richard (Donna) Collinson of Knoxville, Joseph
Collinson of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Donald (Cindy) Collinson of Galva, and
Ronald (Marie) Collinson of Galesburg; two daughters, Teri Collinson of
Keithsburg and Lila (Gary) Montooth of Kewanee; 24 grandchildren; numerous
great grandchildren; two brothers, Gordon (Joan) Collinson and Leo (Virginia) Collinson,
both of Galva; and a sister, Leota Goodrich of Oswego. He was preceded in death by his parents; a
brother, Harold; and a grandson.
Lyle was an electrician out
of IBEW Local 184 until 1972. He then
worked in maintenance for several years before retiring. He graduated from John Marshall High School
in Chicago. He had lived in Galesburg
since 1960. Lyle was a past member of
the former Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
He was also a member of the Lions Club in Galesburg and Galva and the
Sportsman Club in Galva. Lyle was a
former member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge in Galesburg. He was a Boy Scout assistant in Galesburg. Lyle enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting
with his sons.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday,
May 4, 2016, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor
Chuck Reynolds officiating. Burial will
be at a later date in the Galva Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or
First Christian Church of Keithsburg.
