Herman James Sandall, age 94, of Macomb, Illinois
formerly of Knoxville, Illinois died at 7:04 A.M. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at
Wesley Village in Macomb, Illinois.
He was born on November 20, 1921 in Elba Township,
Yates City, Illinois the son of Henry and Nellie Ethel Seitz Sandall. He was
raised in the Elba Township and graduated from Yates City High School in 1941.
He married Dorothy Hutson on August 14, 1947 at the Hutson Family Home.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Sandall of Macomb,
Illinois and two daughters: Marietta (Philip) Bear of Godfrey, Illinois and
Barbara Sandall of Macomb, Illinois; four grandchildren: Peter (Heather) Bear
of Winter Garden, Florida, Jonathan Bear of Godfrey, Illinois, Maria (Greg)
Hernandez of Winter Garden, Florida, and Rachel Bear of Godfrey, Illinois; two
great - grandchildren: Claudia and Alex Hernandez. He was preceded in death by
his parents, three brothers: William, Ralph and Harold Sandall; four sisters:
Mary Lilyard, Pearl Law, Jessie Foster and Dorothy Hornback.
He worked for Gale Products in Galesburg, Illinois, owned
and operated Sandall’s Fix-it Shop, repairing and upholstering furniture, and co-owned
and operated Whistle Stop Hobby Shop in Knoxville, Illinois.
He was a member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church
in Knoxville Illinois, where he was active in the choir, trustees, and Sunday
school superintendent; Life Member of AMVETS Post 8 and the Harry Philblad
American Legion Post #749 of Knoxville, Illinois. He served in the United States
Army during World War II from August 24, 1944 until June 11, 1946.
