Milton
L. Johnson 72 of Galesburg, IL (formerly of Knoxville), IL died at home on
Thursday, June 16, 2016. He was born on August 18, 1943 in Henry County, IL,
the son of Ruth Elaine and Carl Russell Johnson. Milt was raised and educated
in Cambridge, IL graduating from Cambridge High School in 1962. He married
Joanne A. Miotla on September 6, 1970 in Cambridge, IL.
He
served as a Radioman in the United States Navy from 1962 until he retired as a
Senior-Chief in 1987. He worked at Butler Mfg. from 1988-2002.
Milt
was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, and he enjoyed playing golf. He enjoyed
spending time with his family and friends, his greatest joy was spending time
with his grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, two brother’s David and Lonnie Johnson
and two sister’s Connie Nott, and Dixie Johnson.
Surviving
are his wife Joanne Johnson; two children Matthew and (Lindsey) Johnson
Knoxville, IL and Julie Johnson Knoxville, IL. Six grandchildren Madisyn
Johnson, Terrence Dickerson, Jaxin Johnson, Jaylin Johnson, Grace Ann Dickerson
and Aleynah Ruth Johnson. Much loved nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-law,
sister-n law, stepbrother and other extended family.
He
was a member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M until 7:00
P.M. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Knoxville United Methodist Church in
Knoxville, Illinois. A celebration of life will follow at 7:00 P.M. Pastor Dan
Lybarger will officiate. Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
on Wednesday, June 22 at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island,
Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Knoxville United Methodist Church or the
Hope Lodge in St. Louis, Missouri. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory
