Raymond “Ray” Arthur Barton


Raymond “Ray” Arthur Barton, 72 of Abingdon, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
  He was born December 10, 1943 in Massena, New York, the son of Clarence and Iva Hardy Barton.  He married L. Christine Roberts Salisbury on December 27, 1985 in San Angelo, Texas.
  Ray is survived by his wife of 30years, Christine; one daughter, Michelle Green of New York; one granddaughter, Heather Green; four stepchildren, Janet Auten of Texas, Bonnie Salisbury of Missouri, Valarie Kalberloh of Missouri and Michael Salisbury of Missouri; eight step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Barton of Florida; two sisters, Carol Amos of New York and Iva Adle of New York.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Alice Tyerson and a stepdaughter, Lori Harper.
  Ray grew up in New York and lived in several areas of the United States before retiring to Abingdon in 2005.  He worked in sales. He attended the Abingdon Christian Church.  He had served on the Abingdon City Council as an Alderman for Ward 1.  His hobbies included gardening and playing card games with Christine.
  Cremation will be accorded.  Services will be held at a later date.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
