Robert C. Chandler, 75,
of rural Kirkwood, IL passed away at his home on Sunday, July 10,
2016.
He was born Christmas
Day 1940 at Mercy Hospital in Burlington, IA the son of Carroll and
Lucille (Brown) Chandler. Robert graduated from Kirkwood High School, class of
1959, where he played football and ran on the track team; he was also very
active in the Boy Scouts of America.
Robert served in the
Army from 1964 to 1972 and achieved the rank of Sargent 1st Class as well as
becoming a Drill Instructor.
Robert farmed all his
life in and around Kirkwood, IL and was awarded Outstanding Young Farmer
of 1975 for Warren County. He enjoyed collecting Winchesters and
traveling. He was also a Life Member of the NRA.
Robert is survived by
one son, Travis Chandler of Monmouth, and two daughters, Gina (Robert) Marks of
Morton, and Charla (Mark) Reed of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Sarah
(Graham) Knowlton of Milwaukee, Jared (Kayla) Marks of Peoria, Madison Reed and
Megan Reed both of Galesburg. He is also survived by a sister Karen Heitz of
Wake Forest, NC.
Robert was preceded in
death by his parents.
Graveside services with
Military Honors will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Greenmound
Cemetery, Keithsburg, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. McGuire
& Davies Funeral Home and Crematory of Monmouth IL are handling the
