C. Duane Harden

C. Duane Harden, age 79 of Stronghurst, Illinois passed away at 4:52 p.m. Monday August 15, 2016 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. He was born November 7, 1936 in Raritan Township, Henderson County, Illinois, the son of Robert Joseph and Martha Eithel Haines Harden. On September 16, 1956, he married Norma Jean Perdue in Biggsville, Illinois.

        Duane attended Stanley Country School and graduated from Media-Wever High School. He farmed all if his life near Raritan. He was a member of the Raritan Volunteer Firemen and the Raritan Baptist Church. He served on many committees for his community and church his entire life.     

        Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Brenda (Patrick) Brokaw of Stronghurst, Melinda (Vincent) Whiteman of Biggsville, one son Robert (Sharie) Harden of Stronghurst, nine grandchildren, Sarah L. Brokaw, Lee W. Brokaw, Theresa M. Brokaw, Mary C. Brokaw, Justin L. (Emily) Harden, Cody M. (Laura) Harden, Nathan M. Harden, Kristin N, (Adam) Veteto, Kayla R. (Kyle) Simmons, Mary C. (Landry) Williams, and five great grandchildren, Trenton Simmons, Olive Rose Harden, Elane Maria Harden, Jonathan Robert Harden, and Annabelle Noel Veteto. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Adalee Melloan, Carolyn Waddell, and Alta Mae Brokaw.

        A Life Remembrance Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday August 19, 2016 in the Raritan Baptist Church with Pastor Greg McClintock and Deacon Lee Brokaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Raritan Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. Memorials have been established for the Raritan Baptist Church, Raritan Volunteer Fire Department, and the Raritan Cemetery Association. Condolences may be left at banksandbeals.com.
